The below diagram shows that about 90% of UPS and Rectifiers faults can be avoided with the preventive maintenance.

More than 50% of the total faults occurs due to exhausted batteries. The best UPS or rectifier is useless without an efficient battery. For this reason the battery controls have to be very severe.

The diagram suggests another consideration. Adding to the batteries controls (red) all other colours (except the yellow one) the probability of equipment fault is drastically reduced. These additional colours represent activities such as: AC/DC capacitors and fans substitution, dust removal, control of electrical and electronic connections, control of the switches and alarms. All these activities are pertinent to a standard preventive maintenance service.

Finally, the predictive thermographic maintenance, which is a part of preventive controls, reduces the yellow area (electronic card and magnetic parts failures) again.

Consequently we can state that preventive maintenance in itself drastically reduces the causes of failure, protecting your loads and the value and duration of your equipment.
